Example 1: The Cheating Student
π Situation: The girl next to you is copying from your test.
π΄ Reactive: You feel angry. You want to write “cheater” on her paper or snatch it away.
π’ Pause + Wise Response: You stay calm and decide to talk to her after the test. You say, “You’re smart. I think you should try to do it on your own. I believe you can.”
Example 2: A Friend Insults You in Front of Others
π Situation: Your friend jokes about your handwriting in front of others.
π΄ Reactive: You feel embarrassed. You want to insult them back.
π’ Pause + Wise Response: You stay calm. Later, you talk to your friend privately: “It hurt me when you said that. Please don’t make fun of me like that.”
Example 3: You Lost in a Game
π Situation: You worked hard, but your team lost the football match.
π΄ Reactive: You throw the ball or argue with teammates.
π’ Pause + Wise Response: You take a deep breath and say, “We’ll try harder next time. Let’s practice more and improve as a team.”
Example 4: The Teacher Scolds You Unfairly
π Situation: The teacher blames you for talking when it was someone else.
π΄ Reactive: You feel it’s unfair. You want to shout, “It wasn’t me!”
π’ Pause + Wise Response: You quietly wait. Later, you go to the teacher and explain respectfully, “Ma’am, I wanted to let you know I wasn’t the one speaking, but I understand it looked that way.”
Example 5: Someone Pushes You in the Corridor
π Situation: Someone bumps into you on purpose.
π΄ Reactive: You want to push them back or say something rude.
π’ Pause + Wise Response: You step back and walk away, thinking, “I won’t let someone else’s bad mood ruin my day.”
1. You lose a match, but your opponent teases you.
2. Your best friend is gossiping about you behind your back.
3. Your Friend Breaks Your Favorite Pen
4. Someone makes fun of your handwriting in class.
5. You were working on a science project with a partner. On the day of the presentation, your teammate says, “Sorry! I forgot to do my part.”
