SENTENCE: DECLARATIVE AND INTERROGATIVE
Sentence
A group of words that makes complete sense or expresses a complete thought is called a sentence.
Eg. He went to the ground.
Declarative Sentence
A declarative sentence makes a statement or shares information. It ends with a period. The purpose of the sentence is to give information. Assertive sentences are used to state something definitively or to make a clear statement. Facts, history, views, events, feelings, and beliefs are all covered through assertive sentences.
He walks every day. (Daily expression)
The sun rises in the east. (Fact)
She loves painting. (Hobby)
They are going to the market. (Action in progress)
I enjoyed the movie last night. (Past event)
My favorite color is blue. (Opinion)
We will visit the park tomorrow. (Future plan)
Interrogative Sentence:
An interrogative sentence is a type of sentence that asks a question. It is designed to gather information, seek clarification, or get a response from the listener or reader.
What is your name? (Asking for information)
Did you complete your homework? (Yes/No question)
Where are you going? (Wh- question)
Can you help me with this? (Request)
Are they coming to the party? (Yes/No question)
How does this machine work? (Explanation)
Would you like tea or coffee? (Choice)
Imperative sentence: An imperative sentence is a type of sentence that gives a command, makes a request, or offers advice. Imperative sentences do not require a subject, and it usually begins with a verb. To show strong request, urgency exclamation mark is also used.
Close the door.
Please pass me the salt.
Be quiet during the presentation.
Don't forget to call me later.
Study for your exams.
Stop right there!"
